This monumental media canvas, sound designed in collaboration with NBBJ|ESI Design, gives employees and visitors an immediate impression of Charter's Spectrum brand, products and services, as well as the scale and capabilities of the network.
Sonic Branding as Architecture
Six media modes are powered by a variety of content types: near-real-time data feeds, rich corporate messaging, the latest product news, and high-quality, pre-produced materials. Each media piece is uniquely produced for the large scale of the bespoke media canvas, including spatial sound design designed directly in collaboration with ESI and Charter Communications to reflect the brand values of Spectrum Cable.
Sound design for the piece consists of a dynamic ambient bed that shifts in character over the course of the day. A visitor transiting the space passes through varied layers of orchestration played from a custom multi-channel speaker system uniquely designed to suit the space’s architecture in collaboration with Emma Wilk.
A second layer of sound design elements reinforce motion design on three monumental canvases. This material is designed to be harmonically complimentary with the ambient bed at any moment in time. Much of the source material for both layers is created from bespoke electromagnetic recordings of data traffic passing though Spectrum routers.
